One of the greatest things that has come out of my triathlon adventure is the ability to expand my coaching beyond the scope of running. Over the last two years I have been steadily improving and have done so mostly from getting advice and training with some of the greatest triathletes around. Training along side them has not only advanced me personally but also taught me many things that I now bring to coaching.

I think the experience that I have gone through in the last two years has made me see the light when it comes to training. I understand the crazy mentality that a lot of people out there have and recognize it simply as a. drive to get better at all cost. This is not a bad characteristic to have as long as you are able to manage it train smart. I went through a large phase of my own training where I wasn’t managing things well and while I received quick gains in fitness and dropping times, I was ultimately left a bit injured. I bring all these lessons to my coaching philosophy.

I don’t prescribe to one “philosophy” when it comes to training. I think that there is more than one way to skin a cat and that certain approaches are right for one person where they may not produce results for another. I do however believe that whatever approach is going to work best needs to be done consistently with both short and long term goals in mind.

I am also a strong believer in mental game and know, probably for a fact, that if you show up to a race or numerous training sessions with a few screws loose you will not reach your goals. I think my favorite part of coaching is the mental side of it. I enjoy analyzing my own training and how it is effecting my life I have had enough racing experience from my running days to know that you don‘t perform well when you are not happy. And when you are happy you can perform beyond your physical fitness. There has to be a harmony with your training and life. If it is not right you will most likely see fatigue, unhappiness, injury and failure to improve. As a coach, one of my main goals is to keep you in harmony.

If you want to learn more about my coaching please drop me an e-mail and we can have a proper chat about it.

Cheers,
