Feeling a sense of loss and darkness, I began to paint abstractly on canvas, just to get the energy out. In the process, the Black Madonna came to life, directing me to find hope and new life through my creativity.  

Black Madonna appeared in my creative process one night as I explored my feelings through color on canvas. Drawing her form and presence into the background of color came in my creative exploration. 

In some cultures the Black Madonna is also associated with Sophia, who is representative of wisdom. Perhaps wisdom comes from walking through the darkness and learning there is light beyond the darkness; that there is hope beyond the loss; and too that there is always new life and a way to gentleness as we learn from our journeys.
